MANY (The Mid-Atlantic Network of Youth & Family Services) designs its bi-weekly electronic newsletters to bring together those organizations and individuals who are interested in the development of innovative alternatives for youth and families, and in exploring new ways to provide high quality services.

OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPAND SERVICES AND HOUSING TO HOMELESS YOUTH

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act includes $1.5 Billion to the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, which could allow local jurisdictions to expand services and housing to homeless youth.  The National Alliance to End Homelessness and the National Network for Youth have completed a first edition guide to outline resources and ideas for communities approaching new federal funding.

NATIONAL SERVICE PROGRAMS IN YOUR STATE

http://foundationcenter.org/gainknowledge/pubhub/images/spacer.gifNational Service Programs such as AmeriCorps can be great partners for our work, and offer a variety of resources.  The Corporation for National and Community Services has posted the 2008-2009 State Profiles.  State Profiles reflect national service programs, participants, and funding for the 2008-2009 program year, and list all AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and Learn and Serve America programs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
